1823 Capped Bust Half Dollar, O-103, R.2, Nicely Toned AU50 PCGS. Not certified as to Overton variety, but we guarantee any attributions we claim. Star 7 points to the extreme front of the Liberty cap, and there is an indented center dot on the profile. The 3 is “normal” and leans slightly left. The reverse shows the I (in PLURIBUS) to the left, more or less, of the second T (in STATES). As on most high-grade examples of this die marriage, there are fine die lines in the field between the left wing and the eagle’s head. Considerable satin luster remains around both sides, accented by glimpses of amber color heavier near the rims. A great example for type or variety collectors!
