1829 Capped Bust Half O-105 Small Letters, XF45 NGC Blue-Amber Toning. Unattributed on the holder, but we guarantee all our attributions. The O-105 is easily determined by star 7 pointing to the upper edge of a dentil and the top of the curl. The date is well-spaced and star 13 is close to the bust. The I in PLURIBUS is entirely just right of the right side of T in UNITED. The 5 is recut to the left on its vertical and STATES is arranged in a stairstep fashion with T highest. This is the earlier die state showing recutting below the upper arrow shaft, but the die crack from the top-right serif of the last S in STATES is quite bold, usually as seen on the later O-105a (with arrow shafts lapped away at claws). An interesting and attractive coin with a lot of “meat on the bone” remaining, close to AU50 with loads of luster remaining under the moderate but translucent color. A freshly graded coin in a nice, new NGC slab with the “sunburst” holograms.
