1908-D Indian Head Half Eagle, Uncommonly Nice MS62 PCGS CAC. So, the fact is, you just can’t buy nice gold coins for cheap, especially these days with spot gold soaring. We liked the looks of this coin for the grade and sent it to CAC ourselves (some very picky folks on gold), and it came back with a green bean just as we suspected it might. This coin is accurately graded, but what makes it nice (besides the gorgeous design) is that the 1908-D With Motto , besides being a first-year, mintmarked type, is far more elusive as an issue than the 1909-D, which you can still today find under nearly every rock. And when you buy a 1909-D from one of those “21 in stock” gold coin providers on eBay or elsewhere (you know who you are), well, let’s just say you might get what you pay for … One of these days we’ll get around to reshooting the slab with the bean.
