1928-D Buffalo Nickel, Gorgeous Toned Gem MS65 PCGS. Despite the fairly low pre-Depression mintage of 6.4 million coins, lower-Mint State examples of this issue are fairly common, likely the result of government vaults being depleted of earlier dates during the late 1930s when the U.S. economy was recovering. Gem examples such as this piece are nonetheless elusive. While most Mint State examples including this one show die erosion, this piece is very well-preserved and features truly beautiful toning which the Trueview depicts quite accurately. PCGS has seen 90 grading submissions finer (2/2023).
