1937-D Three-Legged Buffalo Nickel, Beautifully Toned AU58 PCGS CAC. The “Three-Legged Buffalo,” like a few other coins such as the 1909-S VDB cent and the 1943 coppers, have crossed over into the general-public awareness, thereby attaining near-mythic status. And this is one of the nicest toned examples you’re likely to find, just a hair (or fur?) short of Mint State. We had to have this when we saw it in hand, with no CAC sticker. We rightly sent it in, it earned the CAC bean, and as much as we love it, it’s time to let some of these “thrown-back” coins go.
