1939-D Reverse of 1940 Jefferson Nickel, ‘Roy G Biv,’ MS65 PCGS. A lovely and interesting coin with a couple of die anomalies present and true rainbow toning, so the Roy G Biv moniker seemed apropos. (If you don’t know what this is, Google is your friend, although I never knew that the Brits used “Richard of York gave battle in vain.”) The Reverse of 1940 is the straight-step variety, while the Reverse of 1938 is the wavy-step one. This coin shows about 60% of the step definition on the center porch steps, and the side porticos show even greater step detail.

We paid a hefty premium for the color on this coin, and the generous luster and bold appearance overall we think will make it all worthwhile!
