Austria ‘1780’ Silver Maria Theresa Thaler Restrike, Lovely Toned MS66 PCGS, Giant Trade Coin. KM-T1. 41 mm. 28.07 gm 0.833 silver, 0.7517 oz ASW. After the death of Empress Maria Theresa in 1780, the thaler bearing her image continued to be restruck in Vienna and other European mints, and it was extremely important for trade with the Levant (parts of Syria, Lebanon, and Turkey). It likely continues to circulate today in some Arab bazaars.
This lovely Premium Gem, in addition to its impressive heft and PCGS fresh grading, offers multicolor toning on both sides, a tad more subtle on the reverse. Every collector of world crowns should own one of these important coins.
