1880/79-CC Reverse of ’78 Key Date Morgan Dollar, Brilliant MS65 PCGS. VAM-4, A Top 100 Variety. This is a favorite of Carson City Morgan dollar collectors as it bears diagnostics from three different years: the 1878 first design flat eagle’s breast and parallel top arrow feather; the 1879 underdate, prominent on this variety under the 80; and of course the 1880 overdate and year of issue. This Gem shows a touch of toning at the date but is largely brilliant. The Gem level is as high as these are normally found, although MS66 pieces are available for much more $$.
