1901-Cn JQ 1 Peso Mexico Blue-Toned MS62 Coin, Rare Culiacán Mint Issue. We currently have two different 1901-dated Mexico 1 Peso coins that on the surface appear similar, but in other ways could scarcely be more different. This 1901-Cn JQ coin graded MS62 was struck at the Culiacán Mint, a mintage of only 1.47 million coins according to North American Coin Prices. PCGS has certified only two MS62 examples with one each in MS64 and MS65. The gorgeous TrueView photo speaks volumes about the attractiveness here.
Although the Mexico 1 Peso coins that debuted after the long-running Cap and Rays 8 Reales series ended, they lack some of the quaint, handmade fabric of the earlier series, which runs to more than 1,100 issues between dates, overdates, mints (14!), assayers, and overassayers. On the other hand, the Cap and Rays 1 Peso series is, at least in theory, completable, with 39 issues currently listed by PCGS in the complete 1898–1909 set.
