1926 Indian Head Eagle, Lovely Wheat-Gold MS64 PCGS CAC. It comes as no surprise that many collectors consider the Indian Head eagle and the Saint-Gaudens double eagle to be among the finest numismatic designs ever mass-produced, given that both were designed by master sculptor Augustus Saint-Gaudens. The 1926 and 1932 issues are the most plentiful issues for type, with the 1926 providing a nice alternative to the ubiquitous 1932s. This piece boasts splendid eye appeal on rather mattelike wheat-gold surfaces with few mentionable marks. A couple of dark alloy spots appear near the rim, but they are less obtrusive than shown in our closeup photos, and they did not bother either us or CAC at this grade level. We nonetheless priced this coin a tad lower to account for them, and feel it should move quickly at a fair price.
