Well-Mirrored 1879-CC Morgan Dollar MS64PL PCGS, Thickly Frosted Surfaces! Normal Mintmark. Excellent black-on-silver contrast is the expected but nonetheless stunning hallmark of this desirable key-date Carson City Morgan dollar. In our opinion, the reverse borders on Deep Mirror Prooflike, while the obverse is well-contrasted but falls a tad shy of any deeper mirrors. A few stray (and very minor in-hand) contact marks are within the confines of the grade, and largely seen away from the device focal points. You are extremely unlikely to find a nicer example for the grade or the price.
As far as we know, this coin has not been to CAC. What we do know is, of the roughly 150 examples between PCGS and NGC in this grade, only 21 (about one in seven of them) have the CAC green bean. And if you find one, the price is not going to be anywhere close to what you can buy this one for! The PCGS Price Guide is $12,750, and the CAC Price Guide for a green-sticker coin is $12,700.
PCGS Population: 85 in 64PL, 19 finer. NGC Population: 65 in 64PL, 6 finer. (2/2020).
