1856/5-Mo GF Mexico Overdate 8 Reales MS64, Fiery Color, Sole Finest at PCGS. We absolutely couldn’t believe our eyes when this ubercool coin arrived in the mail. Fiery crimson and sunset-orange liberally coat the peripheries of both sides, and the preservation is virtually immaculate. What is not at all apparent in the TrueView photo, however, is that the surfaces are fully prooflike and mirrored throughout the obverse and nearly all of the reverse, save for a small area under the eagle’s right (facing) wing. This is an absolutely stunning coin, one of our two favorite coins from this hoard that we serendipitously blundered into (the other is a gorgeous MS66 PCGS piece; stay tuned). PCGS Population: 1 in 64. This is the sole example of this overdate certified at PCGS in any grade (2/2018).
