1878-S Toner Morgan Dollar, MS64 PCGS CAC, First-Year Better Type Coin. While every bit as well-produced as its later 1879-S through 1882-S counterparts, grade for grade the 1878-S issue is somewhat more elusive. Pastel blue, coral, and gold patina highlights both sides of this coin, which also boasts a surprisingly clean cheek on Liberty for the grade. This sure looks like an undergraded Gem to us.
