1958-D Franklin Half, Gold- and Amber-Toned MS66FBL PCGS Gorgeous! For some reason, there are a lot of 1957- and 1958-dated silver coins around with gorgeous toning—the present coin being ample testament. We believe it was in most cases because the mint sets from those two years were packaged in paper with a higher sulfur content than usual. This is just a theory, but I have examined and cataloged (back when I was at Heritage Auctions and elsewhere) thousands of mint sets in my day, and it certainly holds true for me. At any rate, collectors are glad to have them, and they always sell well!
